Apple's replacement of the iPad Air lineup, the "iPad"; Cheaper and faster than the iPad Air 2.

Apple's 2017 iPad is the new brother of the iPad Air lineup; But, Apple decided to drop the "Air" and named the device "iPad". This device has more similarities of the first generation iPad Air than its predecessor, the iPad Air 2. The new iPad measures 240 by 169.5 by 7.5 millimeter in dimensions and weighs 469g for the Wi-fi version and 478g for the LTE. This iPad is thicker and heavier than both the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Pro 9.7". There are three colour options available ( Space Grey, Silver and Gold) and two storage capacities (32GB and 128GB). Surprisingly, it come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Display

There have not been any significant improvements in display resolution or quality found on the iPad Air 2. The iPad features a 9.7 inch (diagonal) Retina display with 2048 x 1536 pixels  resolution (264ppi).

Performance

The brain behind this device is Apple's A9 chip with 64- bit architecture and an embedded M9 co-processor with 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. This unit is also found in the 2015 iPhone 6s; Hence, this device packs enough speed to run iOS 10, the latest games, and edit and export 4K videos without any hiccups.

The introductory prices of the new 9.7 inch iPad are as follows:

  1. Great post. In my opinion technology has gotten way two advance for just speed, display and camera. One purchasing an iPad should get more features than an iPhone. hopefully apple will think of something different with their next release.
